That Day.

There was nothing good about that day.
Innocent blood was spilled and the enemies got their way.
Evil walked free, justice was missing. No – not missing...
Denied.
Shackled.
Held captive.
There was nothing good about that day.
There was nothingness the next, just a tomb and a stone.
Promises were forgotten and everyone went home.
There was no more shouting, in joy or in grief –
Quiet.
Lonely.
Defeated.
There was nothing good about that day.
But Jesus always knew Sunday was coming;
not silence or defeat, but a plan unfolding.
A love so deep we couldn’t fathom –
A savior.
A debt.
A victory.
There was everything good about that day.
We move through life, attuned to our problems.
We ask then we shout, begging You to solve them.
When there is nothing good about that day -
We doubt.
We charge forward.
We forget.
There was everything good about those three days.
Lord, help us to see beyond the storm;
beyond our minimal viewpoint, through the veil that was torn.
Help us remember in joy and in grief –
Mercy.
Grace.
Forgiveness.
There was everything good about those three days.
